How to Use Rice Vinegar for Sushi

Step 1

Rinse the rice well, then add water and cook.

Tip:
Cook the rice slightly firmer than usual. The water amount listed in the ingredients is based on using a rice cooker, so adjust as needed depending on your cookware.

Step 2

While the rice is still hot, drizzle Rice Vinegar for Sushi over it and gently mix, using a cutting motion.

Tip:
Add the vinegar while the rice is still hot. Let it run down the rice paddle as you pour to distribute it evenly over the rice. To avoid making the rice sticky, hold the paddle upright and mix gently, cutting through the rice rather than stirring.

Step 3

Fan the rice to cool it down.

Tip:
Fan the rice to release excess steam and prevent it from becoming soggy. Once cooled, cover with a damp cloth to keep the rice from drying out.

  • Nori sheets (full size)
  • Your favorite fillings
    - Sashimi-grade tuna, salmon, fish roe, etc. (cut into strips)
    - Canned tuna (mixed with mayonnaise)
    - Cucumber (cut into sticks)
    - Canned corn
    - Onion (thinly sliced)
    - Shiso leaves
    - Daikon sprouts
    - Japanese egg omelet (cut into sticks)
    - Avocado (sliced)
    - Imitation crab
    etc.
Step 1

Cut a sheet of nori in half horizontally. Place sushi rice in the center on the left side, and add a few grains of rice to the bottom right corner of the nori.

Tip:
Refer to the photo for guidance. Try not to spread the rice all the way to the edges of the nori, and avoid adding too much rice.

Step 2

Place your fillings on top of the sushi rice at a slight angle toward the left.

Step 3

Roll the nori from the left side, using the center of the bottom edge as the tip to form a cone shape. Seal the edge with the rice placed on the bottom right corner of the nori.
