Step 1

Cut the bacon into ½-inch (1 cm) strips. Slice the onion and green peppers into ½-inch (1 cm) strips. Slice the mushrooms ¼ inch (5 mm) thick.

Step 2

Bring a large pot of water to a boil. Add salt and a little olive oil (not included in the ingredients), then cook the spaghetti according to the package directions, but reduce the cooking time slightly. Drain, reserving a small amount of the cooking water.

Step 3

Heat the olive oil in a frying pan. Add the bacon, onions, green peppers, mushrooms, and cherry tomatoes, and sauté until coated with oil. Add the spaghetti and [A], tossing to combine. If needed, add a little of the reserved pasta water to loosen the sauce.
