Seafood Consommé (10 sticks)

Kayanoya Seafood Consommé creates a nutritious soup with a robust combination of flavors in no time. Just add hot water. This dashi creates a traditional Japanese soup that combines the umami of five key ingredients -- roasted ago (flying fish), bonito, scallop, sardine, and kelp. Touches of aonori (dried green seaweed) and sesame add subtle overtones.

Quality Ingredients

Roasted Flying Fish (Ago)

Roasted Flying Fish (Ago)

It is used to make soup stock in Hakata-style ozoni, a traditional New Year’s dish from Kyushu. For Kayanoya's Original Dashi, the freshly caught fish are roasted and then ground whole — bones and all — to extract their full flavor.

Dried Bonito Flakes

Dried Bonito Flakes

We use high-quality arabushi (dried bonito) smoked slowly over hardwood for two weeks. This results in a rich, bold aroma and an exceptionally deep flavor.

Scallop

Scallop

Formally known as hotategai in Japanese, are a type of bivalve shellfish and are considered one of Japan’s representative seafood delicacies. They are mainly found in the waters off northeastern Japan and Hokkaido. The adductor muscle of the scallop is rich in umami compounds such as glutamic acid and glycine.

Over a Century of Dashi Craftsmanship

Kayanoya is part of Kubara Honke, a family-owned company from Kyushu, Japan, with over 130 years of history. We are dedicated to sharing the essence of traditional Japanese cooking with the world—through simple, natural ingredients and artisanal methods.
